ABSTRACT

This chapter is about ‘writing up’ your dissertation. In so doing you will be composing an anthropological argument. This composition will emerge from all the work you have done before and that has been discussed in previous chapters: the fieldwork, the archival research and reading, and the analysis. In writing a chapter on writing up a dissertation in anthropology we will not be going into a lot of detail concerning the nuts and bolts of grammar, spelling and matter of style (although you can find a bit of that on our website). What we will do is make some suggestions about how to take all the work you have done and make it into a written document suitable for submission.
