ABSTRACT

The Premier League has established itself as one of the most popular and entertaining football competitions in the world. The interest that has been generated by the exciting on-field action has been converted into considerable commercial success. A key strand of the Premier League’s business model is to ensure that those revenues are distributed equitably to provide a balance between commercial success and a clear commitment to social responsibility. This ethos manifests itself in considerable investment into the “Creating Chances” program, which uses the power of football to make a positive social difference to the local communities in which the clubs are located. The success of Creating Chances can be proven by the myriad of participants and partners that are involved, the successful outcomes of flagship programs such as Kickz, the way it helps to shape policy, and the fact that it offers a blueprint for the delivery of community sport.
