ABSTRACT

In a dark, empty classroom, Sekuru (Uncle) Fungai, shared some of the treasures revealed to him during his life in Zimbabwe. Zimbabwe is a landlocked country in the southern part of the African continent. It is bordered by South Africa, Botswana, Zambia, Namibia and Mozambique. Black ethnic groups comprise 98% of the country's 12 million person population, with approximately 82% of Shona descent (Muir, 2007). Zimbabweans live in dire circumstances, deprived for many years of basic life requirements such as food, water, sanitation, and safety, and subject to extreme political, economic and environmental stressors.
