ABSTRACT
The education of children, or rather the ability of adults to pass on their values to them, can take two forms: formally through schooling and informally through the child’s consumption of popular media. In the case of Japan, textbook controversies are a serious issue due to the fact that textbooks influence the mindsets of Japan’s youth, especially the ways they view the country’s actions during World War II.
