ABSTRACT

A camera can be mounted on aircraft, cars, motorcycles, jet skis, boats, para-sails, and elsewhere, but you’ve got your work cut out for you. I will list a few things that are a must when mounting a camera. Remember that a camera and lens usually cost between $50,000 and $500,000 on the average. No oops, no do-over’s allowed. If you want to be able to say, “I’ll be back,” do it right. (I know that I’m scaring you … Good!) Here are a few hints. There are many ways to rig a vehicle. First, you can get most of the big chunks of equipment from Modern, American, Matthews, or Norm’s Studio Equipment. (All near Hollywood, California.) You can either rent it or buy it. It will pay for itself over and over again-not only by the rental revenue, but also by the impression it leaves with the directors of photography, directors, and producers if you excel in this area of gripping. You will look like a professional, and we all know what looks can do.
