ABSTRACT
Few Deweyan concepts have been as misunderstood and misused as the notion of active learning. Dewey (1916/1980) conceives of active learning as natural to the child:
We do not have to draw out or educe positive activities from a child. … Where there is life, there are already eager and impassioned activities. (p. 47)
