ABSTRACT
While environmental sustainability is notoriously a contested concept, 1 there is some agreement among sustainability theorists regarding the general ethical framework on which the idea rests. The consensus I refer to is that sustainability is a demand of intergenerational environmental justice, of the just distribution of the natural resources of the earth between the generations of people who live on it.
