ABSTRACT

Immigration has become one of the central political debates of our time. That is true in the United States and maybe even more so in Europe. The massive flows of immigrants, both legal and illegal, are rapidly changing the face of both America and Europe—a reality that calls for serious journalistic and academic work. In that sense, this book, which attempts a reflection of how journalists are dealing with the issue, is very timely. Reporting on immigration issues is needed. But it is certainly one of the most difficult exercises a journalist might have to deal with. Why is it so? Because the topic of immigration is a very politically charged issue, which carries very emotional reactions and beliefs.
