ABSTRACT

The analysis of qualitative data is a significant, and often misunderstood, part of the research process. One could take multiple methods or approaches to analyzing qualitative data. Determining which method to use might not be an easy choice. The researcher must decide which method is the most appropriate based on multiple factors: What is the research paradigm? What kinds of problems or questions drive the research? What kind of sampling is used? What is the place of theory in the research? We explore these questions and more in Chapter 13 in our discussion of qualitative data analysis, with a focus on grounded theory.
