P 100. The P I00 displayed a Language Group x Hemisphere interaction that approached significance (Table 6). Because results from 20-m onth-olds on this paradigm showed an asymmetrical, left-greater-than-right P I00 to com prehended and unknown words, we pursued this interaction further. For the high-com prehension group, like our results for the 20-month-olds (M ills et al., 1993), the peak am plitude o f the P I00 was larger from the left than from the right hem isphere for both com prehended and unknown words (Figure 6). For the low com prehenders the P100 am plitude was bilaterally distributed. Neither group showed significant P I 00 amplitude differences between com prehended and unknown words.2
