ABSTRACT

In Chapter 4 we considered infl uences that shape the overall physical education curriculum of a school and hence pupils’ total learning experiences. We also considered the mechanics of long-term planning in physical education. In this chapter we turn our attention to the next two levels of planning: medium and short term, or unit of work and lesson plans. As a student teacher, you have little infl uence on the long-term planning of the physical education curriculum. However, you are required to be able to plan sequences of lessons and individual lessons in the form of units of work and lesson plans.
