ABSTRACT

Exploring the relations between the European Union (EU), the Overseas Countries and Territories (OCTs), and the metropole member states, this chapter zooms in on the European corner of the triangle. More specifically, it investigates the sovereignty games played out on what we call ‘the Brussels scene’. This ‘scene’ is a physical place: Brussels as the centre of the EU. Yet it is also a symbolic space for agency and interaction between the European Commission, member states and OCTs.
