ABSTRACT

Throughout time, parents have worried about the stories their children might hear, fearing that some of these stories might have a negative influence on them. By listening to stories, children learn many things, including how to deal with conflict. In the past, many of the stories children heard came from parents, teachers, religious leaders, and media available at the time – poems, songs, and stories. Today, many of the stories come from the mass media – television, movies, video games, computer games, books and magazines, the Internet, and musical recordings.
