ABSTRACT

The main point is that Hind is an independent woman. A woman who decides for herself on what steps to take; and she then takes them. She has no regrets, really; she never regrets what she has done. She has her fears and she has hope. I personally have these feelings often. I have taken steps and made decisions in my life that some people might consider crazy or out of the ordinary or unconventional, and maybe they talk about me, but I’m not too aware of it and it really does not concern me. I think that Hind, in spite of the fact that she always fought with her neighbors, did not really care much. Maybe Emil Habibi, the playwright, was thinking of this similarity when he said that he had me in mind: a woman in her fifties, who has lived independently, who has not followed the norm and who had the guts to say “no, I don’t want to follow, I want to create my own path.” Yes, there is a similarity.
