ABSTRACT

The times are certainly a’ changin’ for the British military regarding the issue of homosexuals being allowed to serve in the Armed Forces. Homosexuality in military organisations is not a new phenomenon, it has existed since Ancient Greek and Roman times, where it was not only tolerated but also encouraged, whilst two of Britain’s most celebrated war poets of the First World War, Siegfried Sassoon and Wifred Owen were both homosexuals who hid their true orientation.
