ABSTRACT
Not all legal systems can be classified so rigidly as to fall into distinct legal traditions. Some legal systems are a mixture of these traditions, and can thus be described as mixed or hybrid legal systems. In the Commonwealth Caribbean, the phenomenon has found a home as exhibited by the legal systems of Guyana and St Lucia.1
