ABSTRACT

The Agricultural Act 1947 introduced tariffs, quotas and a system of guaranteed minimum prices for farm products. In 1951, production grants were introduced, but these were replaced by European farm capital grant schemes. The Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) revoked previous schemes. However, CAP still supported minimum prices and in 1992 there were a range of agri-environmental measure introduced.57
