Legislation regulating surrogacy has been in the forefront in Australia: in Victoria (Infertility (Medical Procedures) Act 1984); South Australia (Family Relationships Act 1975 (as amended in 1988)); Queensland (Surrogate Parenthood Act 1988) and Tasmania (Surrogacy Contracts Act 1993).
