ABSTRACT

This chapter considers the final steps needed to assemble the evidence and arrange for the case to be listed for trial and tried. As the trial itself is likely to be handled either by counsel or by a solicitor with some experience, it will not be dealt with here. (In any event, only a tiny proportion of cases go to a hearing: see Chapter 9.) On preparations generally, see O’Hare and Hill, Civil Litigation (2001) or Pritchard, Personal Injury Litigation (2002).
