ABSTRACT

As in the past, the dramaturgy dominating the Nordic stage today can be said to be one of conflict. This dramaturgy demands that conflicts take place between the actors on stage, and that there be a climax and a conclusion related to the conflicts initiated. It also assumes that performers and audience accept these conditions, thinking and judging on the basis of the limits set in the play. Thus the dramaturgy of conflict also determines what is worth playing and analyzing as drama.
