ABSTRACT
What I will try to do in this 40 Mexican minutes is to talk about four topics. The first is a general one, but has much to do with the purpose of this symposium and with the role of cities in economic development. Then I shall address general issues concerning the instruments for financing cities that are available to local government. Thirdly, I will talk a little bit about the experience of México City. And lastly, because of the interest of people in concrete solutions to specific problems, I will talk a little bit about what is going on in the water industry in México City.
