ABSTRACT
A specific component of the BSc (Hons) Mathematics and Computing Degree at The Robert Gordon University (RGU) utilizes PBL to educate and train mathematical scientists for careers as ‘problem solvers’ in industry and commerce. Particular attention is given to group problem solving. The course focuses on the development of interpersonal, modelling, oral and written presentation skills. Since the whole course is designed to relate realistically to post-qualification professional practice, the course team has involved personnel from industry in the production of appropriate material, in student monitoring and student assessment.
