ABSTRACT

Next we might look to see in what ways this purpose is being carried out. In a good junior school we might expect to find:

• that the children are expressing their powers in language, in movement, in music, in painting, and in making things-that is to say, as artists;

• that the children are developing their powers in language, in observation, in counting, and in the use of the body-that is to say, as workmen;

• that the children are learning to live together to the best advantage.
