ABSTRACT

The issues concerning racial differences in intelligence are not straightforward questions that can be settled once and for all by scientific analysis and research. Indeed, they are of little scientific interest or value in themselves. Instead, these issues are embedded in ideological disputes over important social, political, and economic policies. It is the practical implications for policy that make these issues important and that also make them contentious.
