ABSTRACT
The gorton constituency was formed in 1885. It has continued ever since, with varying boundaries, though in the 1990s the Boundary Commission proposed its abolition. After Labour made a strong case in the subsequent public inquiry, Gorton was reprieved. In 2005, the Boundary Commission proposed the continuation of the Gorton constituency, with its boundaries further extended.
