ABSTRACT
Prescot, where william glover and his wife Isabella came to live not long before their youngest child, Thomas, was born in March 1852, was a small but flourishing Lancashire town, some eight miles east of Liverpool. At the centre of a large sprawling parish and also of a thriving watch-making industry, Prescot stood where the road to east Lancashire (our A58) forked off north-eastwards from the main Liverpool–Warrington highway (our A57).
