ABSTRACT

Religious conversion, among other forms of economic and social change, transforms families, households, and private life. This chapter examines the relationship between religious affiliation and social life in a rural community. I present some results of a larger research project that examines the reproduction of domestic groups of diverse religions in highland Chiapas. 1 This chapter examines Protestant households, especially those practicing Pentecostalism. 2
