ABSTRACT
Overview In the adult male, urethral surgery is performed primarily for managing injury or stricture disease. Following either of these endeavours, urethral catheterization and stenting is customary, both to support the repair and to achieve urinary drainage. The spectrum of surgical procedures available is considerable, as is the spectrum of philosophies regarding catheter or stent material, size, configuration, function and duration.
