ABSTRACT

GeoConnections Canada operates a similar nation-wide policy towards geospatial data to that of Australia, with the aim of developing the Canadian Geospatial Data Infrastructure (CGDI). The lead organisation responsible for the CGDI is the Interagency Committee for Geomatics (IACG), which consists of the Canadian Council of Geomatics and a number of federal government agencies. The scheme is being implemented by GeoConnections, a national collaborative programme whose aim is to develop the CGDI and make Canada’s geographic information available on the Internet. This is implemented through a number of ‘nodes’ within GeoConnections.
