ABSTRACT
ESA’s total budget for 2002 was A2,853 million, of which A376 million (approximately 13%) was allocated to Earth observation activities. ESA employs approximately 1,800 staff drawn from Member States. About 90% of ESA’s budget is spent on external contracts with European industry, and 10% on internal costs.
