ABSTRACT

The science of repetitive verbal behaviours is only one of numerous areas to which Chris Code has made contributions that are impossible to ignore (see e.g., Code, 1982a, 1982b, 1989; Code & Ball, 1994). Repetitive verbal behaviours (RVBs) occur in the presence of a variety of neurological dysfunctions. There is, moreover, a multitude of taxonomies and characterizations that incorporate various parameters of description. Table 11.1 (adapted from Wallesch, 1990, p. 134; see also Guendouzi & Müller, 2006, pp. 169-170) gives an indication of the variety of terminologies and definitions encountered in the available literature.
