ABSTRACT

Rebecca, a young analysand whom I have been seeing four times a week for seven years marries. Her commute to my of®ce triples in time. Coming in four days a week, three hours on the road, a demanding job and a new marriage seems torturous. She doesn't want to cut down, but she cannot spend her whole life in a car. We agree to see each other three times a week in the of®ce and once a week on the phone.
