ABSTRACT

Clara, aged 6, is telling me about her friends and the games they enjoy playing in school. She tells me how she can skip, and sing while she skips, and there is a great deal of pleasure in the way she describes her play. Her mother, also present in the room, looks downcast and depressed. She is going through a divorce with a great deal of tension and argument over how often Clara should be allowed to see her father. She is worried about how Clara is managing this very tense time and has brought her for help. This is our third meeting and my impression is that Clara is a very resilient child who is more worried about her mother than herself.
