ABSTRACT

In this chapter I will propose that the theory of Jacques Lacan as presented by Alphonse De Waelhens is close to the empirical phenomena of schizophrenia, and can serve as a theory by which to understand different successful approaches to the treatment of schizophrenics. I will do so by first underlining a possible paradox in De Waelhens’ presentation (1978), and will then use that paradox to move to a better post-Lacanian theory.
