ABSTRACT

When the clinician addresses these family issues in the intervention preparation, strategic planning or scripting may take place in order to assist the team in setting appropriate boundaries with the identified patient. In most cases, this plan is written out using worksheets or a letter, which can be used as a reference during the actual intervention meeting. The vital information gathered may be forwarded to the patient's treatment team to assist its members in their assessment process. A key factor in facilitating a successful intervention is the ability of the facilitator to contain the entire process, keeping everyone focused on the objective.
