ABSTRACT

Czechia has karst areas developed in small lenses of Paleozoic carbonate rocks surrounded by non-karst rocks. The Moravian Karst, on Devonian limestones in contact with the Brno igneous massif and clastic culm rocks, has the largest Central European fluviokarst system-Amaterska-Punkva Cave System, which includes show caves. The Bohemian Karst, on Carboniferous limestones near Prague has strongly developed upper Paleozoic paleokarst, revealed during exploitation of limestones in quarries.
