ABSTRACT

The mountain group constitutes the upper part of a tectonic wedge produced in the framework of the alpine orogenesis. The wedge is delimited on the southern margin by the thrust of Bassano-Valdobbiadene and on the northern margin by the backthrust of Val di Sella. The southern part of the extruded wedge is bent to form an asymmetrical anticline, the central part a syncline, and the northern part another asymmetrical anticline.
