ABSTRACT

Chapter 3: Communication Theory and Persuasion Chapter 3 introduces students to a theoretical base for communication, outlining some theories with practical use for public relations writing. Precisely because this is a course in writing, it is important not to allow students to merely skim over this section. The intention is to acquaint (or ideally, to re-acquaint) students with some of the foundational theories and research related to communication, giving them guidance toward making practical and strategic applications for public relations writing.
