ABSTRACT

The Internet offers a vast and anonymous space for lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) people to meet others for support, information, and romance, as well as the opportunity to access limitless information on a variety of LGBT issues. This is especially beneficial for individuals who are questioning, just coming out, or who wish to conceal their sexual orientation or gender identity. For social scientists, the Internet holds great promise for reaching members of the LGBT community for research.
