ABSTRACT
When such induction occurs for a single individual, the same person proposes the generalization, formulates predictions, and tests the predictions by observation and experiment. When the process
occurs for cooperative groups, various combinations of different persons may propose the generalization, formulate the predictions, and test the predictions by observation and experiment. We may call the process for cooperative groups collective induction. The fundamental issue in collective induction may be posed as follows: Is a cooperative group able to induce a general principle that none of the group members could have induced alone, or does the group merely adopt an induction proposed by one or more group members?
