ABSTRACT

In this chapter, I review a range of cross-national studies that have been undertaken in recent years, demonstrating the range of possible objectives and the wide variety of research structure and organisation that have been adopted, in order to draw from them some thoughts for discussion on the ways in which crossnational studies may best be structured. It is intended to strike a balance between methodological and practical considerations, and to draw attention to those issues which especially need to be taken into account in the case of cross-national studies.
