ABSTRACT

The degree to which the future can be predicted is central to most child care cases. Relevant questions include: whether the parent has the potential to change through therapy; the prospect that the child is likely to suffer significant harm; or whether future contact with a non-custodial parent will be in the child’s interest. A particularly common concern is whether parental figures have changed their functioning and style of relationships and can be relied upon in the future to offer the child a different caring environment.
