ABSTRACT

This study examined the student normative support for Chickering and Gamson’s (1987) seven principles of good undergraduate education. The findings suggest that there is empirical evidence of student support for 3 of the 7 principles: faculty-student contact, cooperation among students, and high expectations. However, this support is differentiated by a student’s race and social fraternity membership. Implications for theory and practice are suggested by the findings of this study, as are several avenues for future research.
