ABSTRACT
The efficacy of Movement Pattern Analysis has been extensively tried and tested in the world of executive selection and team-building, where its few practitioners have successfully applied it for fifty years. In that time it has developed into a highly sophisticated instrument with its reliability proven in a rigorous and cost-conscious environment. Deborah du Nann Winter has argued that it is regrettable these techniques have not been researched and developed to serve a wider social purpose, and some possible areas where it could be either applied or misapplied are touched on here. At the same time there is an argument that perhaps the very fact that the validity of Movement Pattern Analysis has gone through its development in the commercial world may help it to be accepted seriously in areas of therapy, gender and social issues – in other words as a common denominator to all aspects of life.
