ABSTRACT

Phospholipid vesicles, e.g., liposomes, have been used as drug-delivery vesicles in the last three decades. The main advantages of liposomes as drug-delivery carriers include their biocompatibility, ability to effectively encapsulate hydrophilic or hydrophobic drugs, and the sensitivity of their fluid-like membrane to temperature and pH, which enables controlled drug release.
