ABSTRACT

B. Micelle Ionization Degree The reported values of the ionization degree ex of micelles of ionic dimeric surfactants were obtained from the variation of electrical conductivity, K, with the surfactant concentration C, taking ex= (dKjdC)C>CMcl (dKjdC)c<CMC [6,7,41,89], or from the analysis of small-angle neutron scattering data (SANS) [31,90-96]. The electrical conductivity method has been

shown to yield too-large values of a. The values of a for 12-s-12 micelles have been recalculated [98) by applying the method proposed by Evans [97] to the same conductivity data. This new set of values of a is certainly more accurate than the previously reported ones [6,89].
