ABSTRACT

When compared with the standard design process, one of the most salient new elements in ecodesign is that businesses now have to start thinking about what happens to the product after it leaves the factory. Additionally, businesses must develop a scenario for what happens to the product when the user no longer wishes to use it; in other words, what happens in the product’s end-of-life phase? This chapter deals with the subject of optimization of end-of-life systems.
