ABSTRACT
The need to achieve sustainable development poses an enormous challenge for society. This chapter highlights the way in which companies can contribute toward this goal. Basically, this is through environmentally friendly design (ecodesign, sometimes also called design for environment [DFE]). This seems to be a technical issue in the first place. In this chapter it is explained, however, that ecodesign needs to be integrated with all other business processes (“integration”) to have real effect.
