ABSTRACT
Compensation orders are considered in Chapter 18, 18.1. The maximum compensation order which can be made by a magistrates’ court is £5,000 per offence, and this applies whether the offence is summary or triable either way (s 131(1) of the Powers of Criminal Courts (Sentencing) Act 2000).
