ABSTRACT
European Council Regulation EC/40/94 established the Community trade mark registration system. Issued on 20 December 1993, the regulation came into force on 15 March 1996, and the Community trade mark registration system became operational from 1 April 1996, registrations having been accepted from 1 January 1996. The Regulation follows closely the provisions of the Harmonisation Directive which led to the TMA 1994, approximating national laws.
